When I grow up

Yesterday I made a montage of when I grow up. The easy part was to choose a job for when I grow up. The hard part was to think of keywords that were close to my picture.

My end of year review

My end of year review
Today I made a kizoa end of year review. The easy part is to insert my videos because you just download them to your kizoa video. The hard part was to download the music to the video because, you have to download your music video from Youtube on to your drive. Then put it on to your kizoa video.

Athletics days

On Tuesday we had athletics and I loved it because I tried my best in all activities because I wanted to have fun. My favourite part about athletics was the sprints because I come 2nd for the first time. The easy part was to shot put because, you just have to push the shot put ball as far as you can. The hard part was high jump because I failed on the 2nd jump. My next step is to try my hardest in all activities.

Explain what happened

On Friday last week my class was testing there boats and some sunk if they put coins on there boat. Some boats can hold heaps of coins and some can only hold a certain amount of coins. The easy part was to design my boat on a paper. The hard part was to build my boat in the amount off time given. My next step is to make my boat in the amount of time given.

Paying it Forward

If I travelled back into time I would take back, some fashionable clothes, because there clothes back then will be very different. Also some snacks so they can have a munch if they're hungry, and i'll take some food if they have no food in there cupboards or pan tree i'll give them some food. I'll also take some new board games for the children to play with, and if they dont know how to play i'll teach them.

Fractions

Yesterday we were learning about fractions. The easy part was to problem solve the question with as much strategies as possible, not any strategies high level strategies. The hard part was nothing because I found these kind of fractions easy.
For example:
5/12 of 24 = 10
24 ÷ 12 = 2
2 x 5 = 10

Taumarere History

On June 23 1921 a group of local people met in Pakaru School set up a new building as a memorial to the men of the district who fell in the World War 1, and for the community. The original Management Committee comprised JJ Ware, H Doel, HL Irving, J Doel jnr, CS Goodhue, E Doel, and G Simpson and land was donated by Bert Goodhue.

Kapa Haka

What enjoyed the about being a Kai Haka when I performed was that I had the privilege to be on the stage and perform. I felt whakama at first but I got use to it and just wanted to focus so we don't loose marks. My favourite item waka the Whakaeke and haka in our Whakawatea. I think I need to improve on always singing and trying to reach high notes.

Taumarere Trip

On the second week of school we went for a ride on the train to Taumarere and learnt about Taumarere back in the olden day. Then we went for a walk on the longest standing bridge in New Zealand in Taumarere then carried on, on the tracks. When we were walking we had a scavenger hunt to complete, we had to find native birds, non native birds, native trees and stuff like that. When we find them we show a teacher or a parent and they will give us a yellow sticker.

Adding Decimals

This week have been learning how to add decimals and times decimals. The easy part is to work out the problem because I use place value to work my thinking. The hard part is to answer the question without working my thinking. What you need to know to be successful is use place value to work it out, remember that you have to carry number higher then 9, remember to always add from right to left other wise you will get it wrong.

Cross country training.

                                 Cross country training

In week 6 and 7 we were training for cross country but we called it fun run because it wasn't just all running. We were training at school because that's where we always train. We use to run around the domain and that was hard. Now we run the block or we can do fitness and I chose to do fitness because last year we always use to run, so I thought of trying something new which was fitness. All we had to do was keep our body moving. It was only our class and a few other classes doing their own fitness. I really liked doing the fitness it was really tiring but it was worth it and really fun. We only added in fitness because they thought it would help people that can't run but can do fitness.

Project Island Song.

Today I am writing about our trip to Urupukapuka island. I learned that Gannets live in Pohutakawa trees and different types of seagulls, also interesting facts about them e.g habitat and diets. I experienced that if you don't STOP, CHECK then GO you might actually might take something over there to attract the pest's. Such as Rats and Stoats. I think what I can do to bring back native birds and native trees is keep the pests away and stop littering because if litter it will go down the drains and in to the Ocean.

Te Kura Tuatahi: New Zealand's first school.

This week we have been doing activities and learning explore language for our reading. The easy part is to finish some activities because some activities are really easy, and some are hard. The hard part is to answer the hard question for some of my activities.
What did I do well? I finished all my activities in the time given.

Which activity challenged me the most? Was Exploring Language because I did not know what compose meant.

What did I do about it? Found the meaning and learnt about that word so I understood it.

Which activity was the easiest for me. How can I extend myself next time? I can improve on exploring my language more.

Taumarere.

This week we have been learning about Taumarere and we chose a question to research on. The easy part was to think of a question. The hard part was to find the right information. Her is an example of my work.

Project Island.

This week we are learning a little bit about our trip that we are going on 31 of August. The easy part was to gather facts about my questions. The hard part was to find good and interesting facts about my questions. For example here is a link for my work.

Deca Tree

Today we were problem solving for maths and I thought it was easy because all it really was, was subtracting and addition. The easy part was to subtract and add. The hard part was to figure out how to work it out, but at first it was hard. When I got into it, it was really easy. For example.

Saturday 18 August 2018

Beluga Whales.

Last week we had to write a report writing about any animal that we do not know. For example beluga whale that is my whale. The hard part was to find the right facts for my subheadings. The easy part was to organise my facts into sentences and paragraphs. Here is my story, If you have anything to say about my story put it in the comments. Good Luck.

Roman Numerals.

This week on Friday I was learning about roman numerals for maths with me friends and I think it is really fun. I think the hard part is when you're first getting to know what they are you won't understand the symbles very well, because it is hard at first. The easy part is to search up an example of roman numerals, so you do know what your doing. Do you know what roman numerals are? If yes comment down bellow. But if you don't know what roman numerals are here is a link of my google docs about roman numerals.

Matariki blog

For the last two day the whole school has been doing Matariki activity's, because it's Matariki and we do this every single year. The hard part was to make our movie for Friday because there is a Matariki assembly. The easy part was to cooperate with my team to play Tapu Wai and Ki-o-rahi. I really like doing my activity because my favourite sport is Ki-o-rahi and Tapu Wai. Also I would love to play those games again because they're really fun to play. The point why we only play those games at Matariki time, and not anytime is because it's a special game. The point is that it is the remembrance of our ancestors peace and harmony.

Te rawa nui, te rawa iti.

Yesterday I was learning how to problem solve 1 high number, and 1 low number by using 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The easy part was to make the lowest number out of my whole class, and my number was -5. The lowest number in my whole class. The hard part is to make the highest number because, one of my classmates got 660 and, my highest number is 360. I can solve the problem solve question, but I just can't find out how to make the highest number using multiplication, subtraction, addition and division.

Problem Solving

I am learning how to problem solve involving fractions. I can solve the problem by the next day because one day its not enough time for me to really get it. If we just get one day I will probably say that its hard because I don't understand the question. I need to keep working on using a systematic table with my group. My next step is to turn my tables, my drawings and my ideas in expressions.

Problem saving

Yesterday we were learning how to problem solve such as extending further information explaining our mathematical thinking, exploring our strategies. We were working in groups to share what we have in our books or in our brains. The easy part is to explain my mathematical think because that's the main thing I do. The hard part is to extend further information because when you extend the information you already have in your mind it will be hard to think of anything else.

Testing the water.

This week we have been learning how to think critically and I think that I nailed it because the last story we read was true because most lakes, creeks and seas. The easy part is to read and not just believing whatever you read. The hard is nothing because know I nailed. I know how to think critically because you just have to read a text and try and figure out if it's non-fiction or fiction.

Reading

This week we have been learning to think critically about what you read and evaluate the text. The hard part is to think critically when people are distracting you. The easy part is to think critically people ain't distracting you because you can think properly when no one is distracting you. Think critically is about asking question the right question, questions that help you access both meaning and the significant of arguments.

No bullying

OK bullying needs to stop because people are getting hurt from actions and words. My opinion is TREAT PEOPLE HOW YOU WANT TO BE TREATED. This is an example if you don't know what to do when your getting bullied. :-) (-:

Make 37

This week we have been learning how to make 37 out of 10 numbers using 1, 3, 5 and 7, but I found out that it's impossible to make 37 out of those numbers because odd + odd =E and all the numbers we use are all odd. So they will equal even numbers. The easy part is to make 37 out of 9 and 11 numbers. The hard part is to make 37 out of 10 numbers. I can finish this equation by using 11 and 9 numbers but not 10.
Here is 3 examples

  • 7+7+7+7+3+1+1+1+1+1+1=37
  • 1+7+1+7+1+7+1+7+1+3+1=37
  • 1+1+1+7+5+5+7+7+3=37

Ko to tatou awa

This week we have been learning about our Awa's and doing a map from our school to our awa. The easy part is to colour my map when i'm finish. The hard part is to draw the map because I do not know how to draw. I know how to finish my work in time and draw my map but it is still to hard to draw it but i'll get better and better at drawing when I get older.
If you want to check out my work here is my blog link: http://kpswaekamaniaw.blogspot.co.nz/
If it doesn't work just copy the link and put it in your search bar.

Metaphor

Last week we were learning how to write metaphors. To improve on doing metaphors you have to use two nouns, you have to use a or the and is because if you use like or as that would be a simile, I know how to write metaphors because I have proof that I can show you, my proof is that I can write three metaphor sentence's.

  • Nga Rau Rangatira is a box of favourite's because my friends and my teacher is the sweet chocolates, and i'm the box that hold's us all together.
  • Nga Rau Puawai is a nutella sandwich because they are dark and sweet.
  • Nga Rau Tipuranga is a Snickers because they are little and sweet.

Reflective

This week we are learning how to solve the question with as much strategies as we can. The hard part is to think of other strategies as well as your partners strategies. The easy part is finding the answer but that's not what my teacher  is looking for. I can solve the question and finish my maths in the time i'm given. I need to find as much strategies as I can so i'm not always using the same strategies all the time.

Summarize

This week we been learning how to summarize the text with the stories that we read with our teacher. The hard part is to shorten the text because when i summarize, I can't keep the text short. The easy part is to use main ideas because if you just use a normal reason and not a strong enough reason you might get put down to a lower level in reading. I can use main ideas for Summarizing. I need to shorten the text when i'm summarizing and complete my work in the amount of time i'm given.

Wednesday 21 March 2018

Reflective blog post

I am learning to be a smart leaner by writing a quality blog post. The hard part is sometimes when you don't feel like doing a blog post or a blog comment because you get annoyed. The easy part is using punctuation and using capitles in the right place. I need to remember to finish of my blog post on time.

Tuesday 13 March 2018

Summarising

Today we are still learning how to summarize, the main strategy that we use is the big 5.

When you summarize that's what you have to fine in your summarized little piece of writing.
If you want to be successful in summarizing you have to use the big 5.

  1.  Somebody
  2. Wanted
  3.  Because
  4.  But
  5.  Then
